William Buhlman

This show explores how to initiate conscious out of body experiences with researcher and author, William Buhlman. I was so inspired by his two books Journey's Beyond the Body and The Secret of the Soul, I began practicing his techniques. Since this interview (after one week of practice) I had my first conscious out of body experience. Now I am hooked. I'll be at his seminar in Boulder July 17, 2009.

William began activily researching controlled out of body experiments since the early 1970’s. During the last six years he has conducted an international out-of-body experience survey that includes over 16,000 participants from 32 countries. In this interview and in his books William shares the nuts and bolts of how to travel beyond your body to experience profound spiritual breakthroughs that by their very nature are life changing.

My Test Flight

It seems to me that there is a very small window that rests between theta and delta in which conscious exit is easily possible. As I was drifting into sleep with the intention of having an OBE, vivid hypnogogic imagery began to flash before my mind's eye--that's when I said Okay this is it...I want to get out of body now. Immediately I heard loud buzzing, humming and chopping. I said to myself Wow! This is the Vibrational State so many out of body explorers talk about. And then the vibrations began. I was so excited because reading about it, and feeling it are two totally different experiences. My whole body was vibrating, not just light effervescent shimmers, but a full electrical vibration and then SWOOSH! I was floating above my bed.

I looked down saw my body, sound asleep under the covers. I was exhilerated that I finally made it out. I then flew through the walls and sat in my living room. I had been using the living room in my target practice each day.

Suddenly, an astral dog bounded into the room and tried to attack me. Strangely I wasn't afraid at all. I knew I was in the astral plane, and that he couldn't hurt me. I instinctually knew to send him love, petted him and he sat quietly at my feet. As I repeated a mantra to enter a higher vibrational dimension, my husband came out into the kitchen. I wondered if that was really him in the kitchen or his soul body? At that point I got confused, and questioned whether I was out of my body or not. With that doubt, I ended back in my body wide awake. Turns out Bill was in the kitchen getting a glass of water. :-)

    Very interesting program. Thanks for sharing your experience. 1st: Is there any concern a person lacking preparation for this? Some eastern traditions warn of seeking deep levels without proper preparation. As I understand you could end up in some scary places. 2nd: Does your brainsync guided relaxation have an ultra deep vibe that one would feel more in the spine and brain? The strange thing is sometimes I feel it and sometimes I don't. When I do I have amazing experiences - not that I would describe as out of body but very enlightening. Just wondering if I am getting to a state close or if that is built in.

    To the first post by Chris, what I got was "I can create my own reality", "time is an illusion" and there are endless possibilities. As a person who has had spontaneous OBEs and was freaked out, I feel relieved and hopeful. William also mentioned that everyone's experience will be different and although there's a lot AP info out there that people need to self-sufficient or self-reliant. Regarding "absolutes", you may want to not read that much into it.

    I loved this interview! This is right on point for me right now. I had spontaneous OBEs since 1998. I'm 31 years old and the first time it happened to me I was in college. I was quite afraid of what happen. I experienced paralysis. I never forgot it and fished for answers for years. In recent years while meditating to Kelly's mp3s, I have experienced the buzzing and humming in my ears. Last year (2008), I experienced a lot of spontaneous OBEs (hearing people talking, music channels changing stations). I became a born again christian around that time and became filled with a lot of fear-based beliefs. I became so afraid that I almost could not function or sleep. The people of the church had no answers for me and provided very little comfort or support. So now I am realigning myself with truth, listening to Kelly's show and beginning to feel happy and safe again.

    I listened to Adventure Beyond the Body podcast. I have read books by Robert Monroe and Robert Bruce, but here is what concerns me. It seems like all of them view this life as unnecessary, the crust at the edge of the Light. And the more they get involved with 'out there', the more they sound like the religious leaders here. They start talking in absolutes, in a way shaming the 'living' and that all earth truth is really false. In other words, they sound no different to me than the preacher at the Sunday pulpit. Like the Sunday Service believers, I have found that AP people tend to have a heaven mentality: Life here is crap - just wait until we get to heaven. Perhaps Mr. Buhlman includes answers in his book, but is there a point to this life?

    *(continued from ablove) How can AP improve this life because many, many are suffering. From ignorance, perhaps, but still suffering. And finally, I am never sure AP people are not projecting their 'outer reality' too. I believe it is possible to project- and am trying myself - but is it maybe more possible that we are creators in every sense of the word everywhere? How do they know their reality is not just as made up as the Buddhist or Christian? For instance, the Monroe Institute people never hearing buzzing or lights or talking or touching when projecting. But when a curious AP beginner reads that is what he will experience, they experience it. A lot will be answered when I do AP, but until then, I become concerned when AP leaders begin talking in absolutes. Next step: Dogma

I really enjoy the rapport that you have with each of your guests, your familiarity with their body of work and the respectful way that you conduct your interviews. I've been a big fan of YOUR body of work (Brain Sync) since the early 90s when they were available as cassettes and have quite a library of your DVDs.     Thank you so much for this Kelly! I had an experience more than 20 years ago now, which was exactly as described by William, it completely freaked me out when it happened. It was so intense I have never forgotten it. All these years and now I know what it was. I look forward to reading these books. Thanks again!!

    William has a lot of interesting things to say. I agree with him when he says that this 3D-world we live in is just a show (false education in schools, false sience etc), acctually it feels like pure torture to live in this world. So, of course it is very seductive to hear about other dimensions and so on. But then I think about what Gary Renard says...that the whole universe is an illusion (part of "the show"). So what's the point in staying in the show in any way? Some people say that the universe is "a game", and that the only way to win this game is to end it/step out of it/go home. Annihilation of the soul. Ego death. Conciousness = Soul = Ego = "The original sin" and the problem?
